How did I miss all these?

Melissa of Happy Quilting had a post on her blog about the Fatquarterly modern madness brackets.  I remembered this from a few years ago so I went over to check it out.   Where did all this great fabric come from and how did I miss it? I was only familiar with about half of these.  One I hadn't seen that everyone seems to be talking about is called "architextures."  I see why is is getting so much attention.  This is probably my favorite piece in the collection 

Another line I had not seen was called "Lucky Penny"  How did I miss this one what fun colors. 

This is probably going to be one of my favorite pieces of the year.  It is from the Madrona Road Collection.  Another one I had not heard of before.  What fun to have a reason to look up new fabric.

Jelly Rolls are my new weakness--I am afraid I may have

to give them up.  Green Fairy Quilts has been having such an awesome sale I had to limit myself.  I put quite a few in my cart but had to cut it down to two.  They arrived yesterday and are really awesome looking in real life.  Here are the 2 I decided on.

Then when I really shouldn't have I checked out the Missouri Star Quilt Company's Deal of the Day and saw this.  It was such a good deal how could I pass it up?

I don't have any big plans for them yet but I love having them. I take it back it is not just jelly rolls but all fabric.   I have a few in the stash but used the benartex one I got last fall for a hexagon quilt that is turning out even better than I expected.  I can't wait to show it to you.  As soon as I get my computer back.

Sneak peak, Twister, fun fabric

Dianne brought her freshly quilted Twister and it is my favorite twister so far.  

JeriLu brought some really great giraffe fabric to show us.  Some of the ladies were wondering what you would use it for.  Not a worry for me as I keep fabric just because I like it.  I have fabric that makes me smile and I may never find a way to "use" it. 

And here is the sneak peak.  The Blocks for the opportunity quilt for the Festival are done.  Is that not the best Christmas fabric?

What was I thinking?

Actually I love this boot pattern but get a look at some of the prints I used in the boots.  Oh my!  They must have all been in my, at the time, very meager stash.  These blocks are from at least 10 years ago.  Yep, I ran across them when I was playing with my fabric the other day.

I still have a yard or so of this yellow and green. 

I will confess to being the worst procrastinator.  I made 19 blocks.  One more block and the quilt would be ready to go.  At this point I am going to rethink it, and use 16 blocks.  I thought at one time I might do the broomstick cowboy poem on the 20th block but the boys have grown and times has changed. 

Do you have blocks that you look at and think, oh my, what was I thinking?

Look at the beautiful layer cake

Ok I took my new project to sew night on Wednesday, took it out of the package and one of the layer cakes I needed was not there.  Ok, where the devil did I put it.  I spent the night sorting the fabric I did have and visiting. Sometimes I forget how soothing it is to play with fabric.

This layer cake is  called Spring Magic by Moda and I know it is from a couple of years ago but it is soooo pretty.  Every piece is great. (Sorry not sure why one side of the photo is dark. )

 Thursday I started out looking for the spring magic but couldn't quit when I found it. 

I just enjoyed the afternoon browsing though my fabric closet.   I am going to show you my favorite finds of the day later, but  that  yard of green fabric you can see in the center of the picture was in a bin and I had bought it at quilt walk a couple of years ago because it was such a great piece.  It is Spring Magic! Perfect for binding this new quilt. Great find in my stash.

If you can't tell from the picture I am finally going to start my Snibbles quilt plan C.  I have loved this since I first saw it but it had to take a back seat to other projects. 

Look at this great clear bin Jerilu found.  The new project fits it perfectly.  I could use more of these.

It has been viewed the most on my blog. post about the bag.  At Quilt Market  I saw Amy's booth and... great news she has made a smaller version of this bag!  She also has a new fabric line out that is pretty dang cute.

Mistress Mary quilt contray

Wow--this new fabric called "Quite Contray" will be perfect with my new project.   Jen-Allyson has designed this new line of fabric for Riley Blake and is giving away a stack of fat quarters.  Get on over there if you want to try for it.  I was cruising around her blog and found out she also designs for My Minds Eye scrapbook papers.  Check that out.  She designed Stella Rose line of paper.

This is it on the front of the book. wouldn't it be perfect in the "quite contrary' line. I can't wait until it comes out. Until then this will have to be waiting in the wings. I have had my eye on this pattern since I saw it made up by Nellie in our quilt quild.

 

This lady is Amazing!

I asked Nanette of Freda's Hive to send me some pictures of the projects she is going to be teaching at the Festival this year and to tell me  about herself and her history with the Quilt Walk.  She is truly amazing I can't even imagine how she is able to do all she does.  This quilt is one of her own designs called Freda's Flowers and is made with a jelly roll.

A smaller version.  I definitely need some of that red checked fabric and those flowers are so original. 

Nanette is always looking for unique fabric and she is so good at using it and it always looks great. 

There is supposed to be a picture here and I can't figure out where it went.  I have tried several times to post it and it either gets lost or posts sideways.

   The second class Nanette is teaching is a butterfly class.  I have seen it done different ways.  Look at the fun way she used the fabric for the lines in this one

This quilt looks so good when it is finished.  I especially like the way she used black to make the fabric butterflies pop.

I am going to insert some of the information from Nanette's Bio so you will see what I mean by amazing.

 I took this bag class from her at the Quilt Walk last year. She is a great teacher.
"My theory on teaching," she says," is that we should have fun. I like to have a relaxed classroom atmosphere. We can fix any mistake. And I want everyone to get as much done as they want. Last year I took some of my class members into the free sew room after my class so they could finish their bags. I just want the class to feel like they've accomplished something and make progress instead of starting a new UFO."

 This quilt is her newest design. It is called dreaming princess. That is the new Riley Blake fabric.

 I think this is a quilt she designed to go with this new fabric that will be coming out this spring.

Ok, Here is the picture that I can't get to stand up straight.  I wanted you to see the quilt.  It looks as good sideways as right side up.  This quilt is going on my list. 

Good thing I have a blog so I can keep track of all the quilts on my list. Wait, Is there a way to put that on my side bar?

I can't wait to see Nanettes quilts in real life.

Ok I usually don't do this but I love the Dr. Suess Fabric

Did I say I love the Dr.Suess Fabric.

There is a give away of this fabric going on over at Dawns Quilt Corner. It is  for a really nice stack of this fabric.  Go on over there if you love it also.  When my children were little we read most of the beginner books many times.  I added this picture of the quilt that I want to make from this fabric for my friends at two peas. 

This fabric makes me happy. I have not seen it IRL just on the internet I hope one of us wins. 

Bonnie  is also having a giveaway of some of the famous Bliss fabric.  This quilt is made with bliss.

Sew Night and we made bowls.

Actually I didn't make any but that was the project.  They were a little tricky but didn't look to hard.  These are some of Marylou's finished bowls.  They are made with cloths line and strips of material.  I think I will put this on my project list too. 

Shannon dyes the wool for her projects.  Look at the sky on this.  It will be beautiful. 

She found this piece and the children playing one at Pineneedles.  Very cute. She said she didn't have a project in mind just building her stash.

I have only seen this quilt done in Christmas fabric.  Lavee made this with regular fabric. I think it is really fun.

Shannon finished this piece just in time for the fall holidays.  The color on the leaves is fantastic.

La vee has been making doll cloths for her granddaughters for Christmas. Look at this one. Oh my stars.
