I asked Deonn Stott to share some info with us and show us her projects.

What a great post she sent.

"Hi, Jan,
Thanks for asking!
I am excited to be coming back to Panguitch this year to teach!  Having taught classes the previous 4 years, for some reason, I had NOTHING new when they were asking for proposals last year.  Turns out, it was a good thing, and it's actually paying off for Quilt Walk this year.
Last March, I entered AccuQuilt's Barn Quilt Design contest, with a simple block.  Long story, short - I placed 2nd in the contest, and my long-time quilting friend, Debbie Proctor, drove us out to Nebraska for the Barn Quilt Unveiling event.  Eleanor Burns was there, with a hilarious trunk show featuring quilts from her newest book, "Quilt Blocks on American Barns", with old farmers, chickens, and flying pigs... you had to be there!  Then they unveiled the winning design - a 17-ft billboard mounted on the side of the AccuQuit headquarters... and, guess what??  A 6-ft billboard of the 2nd place design, mounted right around the corner!!  I loved it!

In addition, AccuQuilt sponsored a three-day "Let's Go!" quilting retreat at a local quilt shop, and both Debbie and I were able to attend that as well.  We were able to use their Go-Cutters and try all the dies they offer,

made a couple of Drunkard's Path quilts, were treated like royalty, won a couple more Go! Baby cutters, an exclusive barn die made just for the retreat, and we just had a blast!
You can read the "long story" about all of these adventures and much, much more on my blog over at Quiltscapes.  Here's the link:  http://quiltscapesquilting.blogspot.com/2011/06/quilting-on-go.html
Three of the four classes that Debbie and I will be teaching stem from our Barn Quilt Adventures with AccuQuilt last June, same weekend as the Quilt Walk!  The Drunkard's Path - AccuQuilt is supplying enough Go! Cutters and dies that everyone in class will have a chance to use the machines, cut out those perfect curves with a little notch for alignment, and learn just how easy curved piecing is!  We'll explore some of the design possibilities with this versatile block.

Our little Barn Quilt Adventure banner quilt is a fun idea they taught at the retreat, which features little washers stitched into the batting and magnetized applique pieces for hours of interactive fun.

The Soldier's Star is my prize-winning barn quilt design, and can be made as a table-topper, lap quilt or bed-size quilt!  Again, we'll have Go! Cutters and dies to use to quickly cut out our quilts in class.
I love anything to do with quilting... teaching especially!  You may be interested in my monthly tutorials with Riley Blake Designs' "Cutting Corners College", with lots of quilting basics, tips, tricks, tools, and fun projects to whip up.  Plus, there's always something fun going on at my blog, and here at my little studio!  You are always welcome to stop by Quiltscapes for a visit, online or any time!
See you soon!"
