It is a state holiday and is supposed to be the day the pioneers came into the Salt Lake Valley. We always have a big parade, town breakfast, and rodeo. For as long as I can remember the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers have had a rhythm band in this parade. The numbers are getting fewer as the years go on but it is always a fun float and music.

I'm confused! It's supposed to be, in all my history and church classes I was taught that it was the 24th. Am I wrong?
ReplyDeleteThat parade looks like a lot of fun!

ReplyDeleteShannon, sorry that is the utah history teacher in me. Remember the advanced group ( two days earlier) was already clearing the land and starting to plant when B Y who had been ill got here and proclaimed this is the place (paraphrased) drive on. So yes it is the official day.
