Sew night....

Jerilu is making progress on her Farmers Wife blocks.  These are the blocks where she is using some of the fabric given to her by Mrs. Lynn.

Nobody actually brought their machines but we had some show and tell, we visited and Claudia showed us how to cut out a new quilt of wonky trees. She got hers all cut out while we sat and visited with her. It is good to get back into the swing of sew night.  I've really  missed it.   Panguitch in the summer can be hectic.

Here is another hat Helen made.

Oh my, I think this quilt is so cute.  Jeri brought it to work on the binding.

Here is Lauren's college quilt quilted.  It still needs binding but time seemed to run out today.

LaVee's sister in law made this bag out of woven placemats.  That inside fabric is fabulous.

This is the quilt you have seen before. It's quilted and ready for binding.  Lauren and I put this together.  She should be warm at school.

Jeri's granddaughter who is twelve put this quilt together.  She did a great job. Marylou quilted it for her and it is so cute.  I love the owls in the fabric.  Fabric is from adorn it.

These hats Helen makes are so cute for big and little girls.

Even more sew night, blocks that have a history and even a recipe

Lila Tueller fabric.  A sneek peek at a Quilt Walk suprise.

This is someones purse, and I forgot to ask who it belonged to but I believe it is like the class that is being offered at the festival this year.

the balloon festival is paring up with the American Cancer society this year and this is a quilt they are auctioning off as a benefit.  Lot of work in those ribbons Becky.

Dianne is making this georgeous Lone Star quilt.  The colors are really striking.  The camera doesn't do it justice.

Mary Lou brought a pistashio cake that was so moist and good it just had a hint of glaze on it.  I asked her to send the recipe, now to see if I can find it. Pistachio Cake

1 pkg white cake mix
1/4 c flour
1/2 c water
1/2 c milk
1/2 c oil
5 eggs
2 pkg Pistachio Instant Pudding

Mix all and beat until smooth
Bake in Bundt pan in 350 degree oven for 50 minutes or until done

This quilt is one that Mary Lou's friend sent to her and asked her to quilt.  It has been stored for many years and Mary Lou felt it was too fragile to quilt with her machine so she is sending it back and suggesting she have it hand quilted.

My third grade teacher's name was Mrs. Lynn.  I remember we were all a little afraid of her as third graders.  As I grew up and had children of my own she lived through the block from me and I got to know her better.

She was quite a quilter and was an interesting person to visit with.  Her life had had more than it's share of sadness but you would never know it talking to her.  I helped her when she had some health issues in her later years and in fact she was still quilting for people in her late 80's.

I still have a tricot quilt on my bed that she made when she was close to 90.  I believe she was 93 when she passed away.    Yes, there is a reason for this story.

Before she passed away she gave JeriLu some fabric. Jeri has decided to make the farmers wife pattern and she showed me the blocks and pointed out that she had used Mrs. Lynn's fabric in most of these. I love that and so would Mrs. Lynn, I think.

An extra sew night this month. Yay!

We continued to work on this quilt for the quilt walk.  It is going to be a WOW factor quilt.  It is called Pie in the Sky by Kim Diel.  When I say we I mean every one worked and I mainly gave moral support and played with the squares on the floor.

What a good sew in we had.  Everyone had projects going.  Here is Donna working on her tube quilting blocks

Here is her result.  Pretty cool huh?

Shannon has been busy putting this cornucopia.  She finished her Christmas one.

Fabulous.

Here are her blocks she put together from stash with the tubes.

Here are Marylou's blocks for the quilt guild, black and white with crayon color.

Yay! Sew Night, new projects and a sneak peek

Remember I told you about our guild doing black and white blocks with a crayon color drawn at each guild meeting.  Here are Shannons blocks.  She is doing two of each.

These are Claudias' blocks.  She is adding the black and white extra to each block, I think she called it a BQ pattern.  It is really striking.  Shes
making two of each block also.  Of course yours truely only has her crayon colors drawn.  That is it.  No fabric, nothing cut nothing.  No excuses.

Here is Marylous' flimsy

from  the tube piecing she had last week.  It turned out great didn't it?

Marylou taught some of the ladies how to do the tube piecing blocks.  These are the ones LaVee put together.

Prepare to be amazed!!!!!

Are these not the greatest little blocks.  Just so you know they are a sneak peak for the quilt walk.  Most of us worked on these last night.  I love working with friends.

Remember this project from last sew night?  Well here it is cut apart and put back together.

Look at these bocks claudia made from her class in Brigham City. Are these fun blocks.
We are going to meet again next week to work on the quilt.

Yea! sew night. We didn't have any finishes but plenty of great projects.

This Sunbonnet Sue block is one that Helen is making for her great granddaughter from cloths that her daughter(helen's) made for the little girl.  She said she can't find her other blocks but knows they are in her sewing room.

Another Sunbonnet Sue.  Betty does such good hand work.  This panel is the center for a quilt she is doing.

Marilyn is working on these blocks.  It was a night for hand work.
Lana brought this top and her pattern to show us how to make this.  Wow! I don't know who comes up with these idea.  It is a creative way to cut fabric to get this pattern.  I can't wait to try it.

Kenda is fixing up a pair of her jeans to look like the really expensive ones.  She will finish sewing these flowers on then use studs and bling on them.

Pretty dang cute, I think.

Shannons natavity wool work piece is going to be beautiful.  If you have been following the blog you have seen it grow.

I brought  some tube strips that I am hoping to make into a lap size quilt.  the blocks won't be in this order but here are the ones I have cut.

these are shannons black and white blocks for quilt guild block of the month.

As soft as this looks it feels even softer.  Donna is making this from left over yarn.

I hope you enjoyed our sew night.  We are starting to really look forward to the classes being up for the Quilt Walk.  Soon.
Enjoy!
