I can't believe I forgot this.

I told you about my failure to get some good pictures from our guild meeting the other night.  However, I forgot to mention that we had a great pot luck dinner and Kenda brought what I think was the hit of the night. I got the recipe for you all.... Here it is.  Mmmmmmm

Kenda's Cowgirl Bean Dip

1 package jimmy dean sausage browned
1 package cream cheese the square one
1 cup sour cream
1 can red beans
1 can pinto beans
1 can black beans
1 bell pepper (chopped)
1 chopped onion
1 lg. jar salsa

Combine everything in a crock pot and simmer 1 hour.
We had it with chips, but Kenda  uses it as a main dish  by havint it over baked potatoes. She even stuffs tamales with it.   It is pretty tasty.

I found Quilts Etc.

I am in SLC and I found this great quilt shop. I took some pictures but barely scratched the surface they had many more quilts . These two were labeled boys and their toys.   Pretty darn cute.

I was really drawn to the colors in this one.  It felt calm and peaceful

I'm loving the stars and stripes on this one.  I think this may have to go on my list.  And boy did they have  lots of patterns and books.

I am not usually into table runners but I will have to take that back now.  This was adorable.  Tonight is  our Panguitch sew night so I hope someone is taking pictures and notes.  Look for them on quiltwalker

Quilt pictures --I hope

This  new quilt at Quilted Works in St. George,   has been added to my want to do list.  

\\Love this vintage looking dresden. This is another one that is on the list.  I saw it at a guild meeting in January and I have been looking for the right fabric.  I do like this line, I think it is frolic by Moda.

What a great quilt.  It is a BOM for thier store. 

I think my may grandson needs this one.I have a feeling this is the quilt that will go to college with my daughter. 

I have to say I didn't see a quilt here I didn't like.

I took my mom shop hopping

 

No, not the one going on up north but our own little shop tour.
mom is not a quilter or seamstress but yesterday her car needed to be repaired in ST. George. We had a few hours to wait so I took her to a few of the quilting stores in the area. She really seemed to enjoy it. Everyone was so nice and there were some great quilts and beautiful fabric and even treats.
Our first stop was Quilted Works their quilts were awesome and there were tons of them. I added several to my list from there. Mom even gave me some ideas for Christmas by seeing the quilts she was drawn to.

  This  quilt made with Amy Butler prints was the first one to catch her eye.  I would not have picked it out for her but it might be her Christmas next year.  The quilt at the top of the post was another that she quickly picked out.
for some reason the rest of the quilts are not showing up.  I will work on the problem and try to update later.

If all else fails.....read the instructions.

My mother used to say that everyday.  She was a business teacher, teaching typing to high school students, in the days before computers.  She probably said it every day for most of her teaching career.  I am telling you this because it is something I should know.  But, I failed to read the instructions.  The last day of the quilt walk I had to be out of town, before I left I ran to the festival and took some pictures in the classrooms.  I thought I got some great shots.  Last night we had our quilt guild meeting.  I thought I had some great shots again.   I took out the card put it in the computer and could not find the pictures.  Well the camera instruction was telling me that the card was full. I had  neglected to "read the instructions."  I lost some great pictures.

Wait for it........

I am just waiting for Peggy, Maker of Quilt Walk Lunch desserts, to send me the recipe for the dessert we had the first day.  I am craving that stuff.  I imagine some of you are also.  I will post it as soon as it comes in.  In the meantime here are some more pictures from the festival.

Virginia called this class Easy Stained Glass.   It looks anything but easy to me.  It is, however, beautiful.

These were part of the trunk show.  Jill said her friend made the bottom two with snippets of material.  Another one

 Banana Cake with Cream Cheese Frosting

Cream together:

1 cup white sugar

3 / 4 cup brown sugar

1 / 2 cup softened butter



Add and mix well:

2 eggs

4 mashed ripe bananas

1 teaspoon vanilla

2/3 cup sour cream



Mix together:

2-3/4 cup flour

(Optional: substitute 2-1/4 cups flour and 1 / 2 cup almond meal from Trader Joe’s)

1 tablespoon baking soda

1 / 4 teaspoon salt

1 teaspoon cinnamon

Combine the wet and dry mixtures just until the flour disappears.

Bake in either a 9” x 13” pan or two 8” square pans. Grease and flour pans or use Pam.

Bake approx. 30 minutes or until tests done.

We have our Bryce Country Quilters Quild Picnic tonight.   I think  it will be fun if the wind will let up for a while.

guess who won the new Bernina sewing machine.............yes it was me.  How cool is that.  Does anyone say "cool" anymore?

The trunk show was put on by Jill Cox who entertained us while showing quilts. The writing on this is "As ye sew sew shall ye rip."

More of the show.  There is a frog theme here.  In each corner the frogs are dimensional.

This quilt was a round robin Jill did the middle and other quilters added the borders.  What a great idea.  Enjoy.

Day 2 of the Quilt Walk Show and Tell, Classes and more--

This beautiful blue and yellow quilt was made by Donna G. for her daughter during the daughters illness.  It took her longer than planned but was well worth it.   I kept going back to look at this quilt.  It was one of the show quilts and each time I looked I saw a new detail.  It appeared to have been hand quilted. extra ordinary, volunteers.  Louise and Sharron.  It takes a village to run to quilt festival and Panguitch  residents really do what it takes.  This is one of the projects from Claudia's class.  I have more I will show later but this one made from the pink lemonade line was eye catching.  Lana and Dianne not showing their frustration here. Saundra was very patient with us but applique was not coming easily.  We worked hard until the night caught up with us.  We were left with instructions to practice.  Like the piano.  I never got to good at that either.  The basket weavers were making good progress when I happened in one Friday morning.  I haven't seen any completed baskets yet.

Claudia was surprised with this awesome quilt from some of the past and present teachers at the festival.   This is the Quilt Walk Festival's 13th year.    I think it gets better every year.

The Quilt Walk !

Lots of chocolate!

Tonight we start with the Chocolate festival and the Play. The play shows the story of the quilt walk that saved Panguitch. Claudia has the story on her blog. I have just been to the gym where they are hanging quilts and there are some awesome ones this year. As soon as I figure it out I will begin posting some of them.



Tomorrow Classes start and there will be a trunk show. I am pretty excited about my first class it is being taught by Nanette, celebrity quilter and author of Fredas hive. As soon as I figure out how to link to other blogs I will put those in.
