We had our holiday party at our guild this week

Quilts were awesome but the food was sooo good.  of course I didn't get a picture of the food.  If I can talk Gwen out of her roll recipe I will share it.  Oh my goodness,  They were the best rolls ever.  On to the awesome quilts.  This was Gwen's last night as president and she made and showed us how to make the cross quilt.  It looks like fun.
Becky showed us the cathedral windows she made from her uncles, who passed away recently, jeans.  She made the quilt for his daughter.

Tanya finished her October pillow cover.
 And a great tree skirt.
Sandy finished this quilt with lots of embroidery.
She also went home after Gwen showed us the zipper quilt in Sept. and made one using the blocks we had exchanged a few years ago in guild.
And a pillow she finished for Christmas.
Sheri made two baby quilts, she said she started with panels but you wouldn't know it by the time she got through with them.  She is a true fabric artist.

The colors in this quilt were perfect.  This was one of Pat's quilts.
I have a few more that I will try to get up later in the week.  Well maybe more than a few.

Grand Illusion revisited

I know we haven't even gotten the first clue on the Mystery Quilt and I have already changed my fabric choices.  My daughter brought me the paint chips the other day and I could see some glaring differences in the color choices.  I had no alternative but to go out and purchase some of the blue and greens.  The blues are kind of a green and don't show up that way on screen.  As a result I had beautiful Tiffany blue fabrics that didn't look great with the rest of the fabrics. My greens were darker and kind of dull.  I even thought about changing the color scheme but I loved the inspiration of the grand hotel so you can see...no alternative.

remember the grand hotel...

This is on my bucket list as a place to visit someday. I bet you can see why.

Love those colors.  So here is what I came up with.  I am going to keep them out so I can look at them for a few days but for right now I think I have my quilt fabric.

Are any of you going to join in on the mystery?

Sew Night show and tell

I just love to show you what we all are doing.  Lana's 2.5 inch squares.

My blue Heaven from a class that Becky took at Quilt Walk.
LauRetta took this class from Emily Bailey at Quilt Walk also.

Is this an awesome idea?  Claudia is making these from her new book.  Sorry I still don't have the name of it.
this quilt is for a class Claudia is teaching at Page this year.  It is called pick up stix.  I took the class from her at Quilt Walk and the quilt was one of my all time favorites.
These next two quilts, Lana made from one Jelly roll.

More show and tell

I love this one of Florences, It looks traditional but there is a little something unexpected in it.

Crystal had some fun things to show.  I love the race horse, then she is making seasonal covers for a couch pillow.

Katherine finished these next two.  I think she she said this one was one of her UFO's
and that this one was one she did from Jenny's tutorial on a technique by the 3 dudes.

More show and tell

This quilt is one that Claudia is teaching at the Ruby's retreat in February.

Becky got her Bargello back from the quilter.  I heard her say she was giving it to her sister. She also finished her Chicken quilt.  So dang cute.

Love this finished Jelly roll race quilt.

This is a finish of the quilts our guild made last year.
This is Crystals but I am sorry I I can't remember the name.  Crystal if you read this can you add the name in comments?

This is Crystals pinwheel quilt that she and Keela taught last winter.
and her hexie quilt.
and table runner.  Look at that quilting.
I love snowballs and 4 patches and what a cute line.

Keela got her star back from the quilters.  Wow.

Katherine found this one she had taken a class on and finished it up.
