Oh my goodness--I am telling my age

This is so fun, I found it over on We Sew Retro.  I am telling you my age here but that pattern for 1968 was one I made to wear at Girls State that summer.  In fact I made it three times in great fabrics, I wish I still had that fabric.  One was a to die for yellow print, one was brown and the other was a mint green stripe.  I was very stylish for the time.  I remember being in a hurry to finish and broke the sewing machine needle off in my fingernail.  Ouch! but the worse part was I didn't know how to put in a new needle and my grandma wasn't home to show me. It was her new machine.  I could not get it bigger here but if you want to see it enlarged go to this link it will tell you the pattern maker and number also.

Still trying to fill out my brackets. How do you choose?

I am picking Honey Honey by Kate Spain to go all the way.

Pearl Bracelets

and Pam Kitty Morning are also favorites.

It is between "Rock n Romance" and "Lucky Penny" in the first round.

I am crazy about both Wish fabric and PB&J.  How will I choose?

I could not find the whole collection so will give you my favorite piece and a link
So many more.  I can't wait to see who made it to the next go round.

Enjoy Jan

Even more fun stuff

Pats modern quilt is breathtaking with the colors she chose.  She said these are the colors the collects.

Sandy has really been busy this month.  This is a finish of  the guilds block of the month from several years ago.

Keela's fabric choice for the mystery quilt.
Sandy's choice.  These are all going to be so great.  And sandy has another finish here.  It is very modern.  The blues are more teal than what is showing on this picture.

Sandy began talking about this top by saying "do you know how sometimes you have a quilt you are so excited to start a quilt and when you get it finished you wondered what you were so excited about?  This is one of those."  I think it is adorable and I bet when it is quilted she will fall back in love with it.

Gwen's fabric choice.

Keela participated in a Jelly Roll Race and here are the results.  I can't wait to try this but I am not going to race or I would become all thumbs.
I have a weakness for tumbler quilts and this one is great in pink.

How did I miss all these?

Melissa of Happy Quilting had a post on her blog about the Fatquarterly modern madness brackets.  I remembered this from a few years ago so I went over to check it out.   Where did all this great fabric come from and how did I miss it? I was only familiar with about half of these.  One I hadn't seen that everyone seems to be talking about is called "architextures."  I see why is is getting so much attention.  This is probably my favorite piece in the collection

Another line I had not seen was called "Lucky Penny"  How did I miss this one what fun colors.

This is probably going to be one of my favorite pieces of the year.  It is from the Madrona Road Collection.  Another one I had not heard of before.  What fun to have a reason to look up new fabric.

If you want to catch up on some of the great lines that are out there, or if you want to vote for your favorites, head on over to the fatquartely web site and print off you own "Modern Madness"  bracket chart.

I am looking up fabric and going to fill it in this week.  Who do you pick to win?
