Sherri said this is one of her favorite quilts.

These two quilts are the same pattern with just the darks and lights reversed. Hard to believe.

This pattern is I believe called swoon. It is one that Nan is planning to do. It is pretty awesome.

The pattern and fabric for this quilt were designed by Kate Spain. I tried to pick up some of this fabric called terrain but it flew out of the stores.

Love brights.

This is what the front of the room looked like when we got there Friday evening. There was a block exchange and if you wanted to participate you made one snowball and one 9 patch from brights and whites. I like the way they look.

This quilt was on of the first ones I saw on Sherri's blog. Right then and there she went up on my blog list. Love this one.

This Christmas quilt was a block of the month from the Fat Quarter Shoppe.

I think this is made from fig tree fabric. I really like how the colors turned out.

There were so many quilts I am going to have to show them in two or three days and then only post the quilt that the pictures turned out on. I think she said these were only the ones she chose to bring. By She I am taking about Sherri of A Quilting Life fame. I love following her blog because her quilts are the quilts I would make if I was an expert quilter.

She began by talking about her grandmothers and her family history of quilts. These first quilts were made by past generations of her family.

She told us that many of her first quilts were Irish chain quilts because that is the pattern she had.

I like this one a whole lot.

To paraphrase that old commercial, you've come a long way from the first Irish chain.

Sherri sews for designers for quilt market and also tries out patterns for them.

We took a class called Jennie's Twist. Not to hard mostly fun.

These are Claudia's blocks. I really like the way they turned out and you can begin to see the twist.

These colors look masculine to me. I can't wait to see Nan's quilt done.

I even got a couple of blocks done. I'm really liking the color on this.

In the room next to us they were making this quilt called Orange Marmalade. It is so fun to see all the color ways that the ladies were using.

In the next room down they were making baskets. Really cute quilt.

Becky is making hers with black white and green for a baby quilt. Very fun.

I guess I can. Cori of Creativity amongst Chaos, was featured with quilts she had designed. These are the greatest children s and baby quilts I have seen in a long time. I think you will enjoy them more if I just show the pictures. I am sorry I missed a few as my batteries went dead right after she started.

These are actually her dog and cat that she sketched out and made a quilt of, so talented.

She said these animals were easy, but I am not seeing it. They are pretty great though.

This one is all done with yoyo's, charms and buttons. It has such movement and is a fun quilt.

This is another one she has embellished. She even has seashells on it.

She made this from a sketch or doodle she had done. She has been doing sketches since high school and showed us some of the notebooks she had from way back when. She is a real artist and was a great one for the creative kick off trunk show.

They began by having each of the teachers show the project they were teaching this year. There were so many and they went so fast I did not get them all and the pictures aren't the best because it was packed with quilters. Here are the pictures I got. I know some of the teachers but not all so I am going to show pictures without much commentary. The quilts are the reason anyway.

Ok just one comment, this snowball and nine patch is going on my list.

She happened upon a retreat and was able to take a class and here are the results.

Here is a snow man quilt she is working on. I can't wait to see it finished.

This one is from one jelly roll, Claudia said she put it together in four hours. Does anyone know what line this is?

Karen has been to Saudi Arabia to see her daughter for Christmas and brought these in to show us. Her daughter made the Santa and it goes over a 2 1/2 inch pvc pipe.

She found this bag and thought she could use it for a pattern.

Her granddaughters were carrying bags like this and so she thought she should have one too. Fun stuff

Angela brought her new quilt to bind.

Everybody came mainly for show and tell. Claudia picked Helen up and she (Helen) said she wasn't going to bring anything. Claudia saw her stack of recently completed projects and had her bring them. This post is going to be all Helen. She is so Awesome.

She did the redwork when her husband was ill. I can't wait to see it in a quilt.

sunbonnet sue is always a favorite and this one is super cute. Helen said she is trying to stay ahead of quilts for her great grandchildren.

I got an email from Bonnie about the quilt retreat at Bryce Canyon next month. Really she was only asking if we needed a special diet (I don't) but it reminded me that it is coming up fast. This is the first year I have ever been able to go. I am doing a class after work on Friday. Usually the classes are full before I see the schedule. This year I happened to be at guild when the papers were out and I'm going. I think someone told me if you didn't get your application in with in 3 days of the announcement that you would not get in. Because of space limitations there can only be so many attend. I am excited.

This is the class I am taking. Isn't it awesome. I am thinking I will use batiks. I have a Robert Kaufman bali pop in Pink Lemonade. I am going to pull it out and see if it has enough lights and darks and if there is enough contrast. I only have a month to get ready.

One little word

I finished this album last week and think that I am going to use it to record my progress with OLW. Remember I have a small word, DO and am thinking I will use pictures even more than journaling. I'm not exactly sure how it will work but I'm going to give it a try. What do you think?

I showed you the ornament that Shannon made for her daughter but only showed part of it. Here it really is and it is dang cute.

I had someone ask who did the pattern for this quilt before Christmas. I found that I had taken a picture of the pattern book. I hope you can get the info you need from this.

It was so good to see everyone last night. There was plenty of show and tell but mostly everyone seemed to need to have some time to visit. I was only able to stay a little while as my furnace had stopped working and the furnace guy was coming to check it out. Turned out to be something he had the part for and could fix so I am not freezing. Thank you Cade.

I did remember my camera so here are the show and tells.

Shannon has been busy. Not only did she knit these hats she made this cute rug out of tee shirts.

Marylou is making this quilt for the brother, she will be visiting next month. She had one all made and didn't like the quilting so will be taking it apart. This one turned out great. Do you recognize this block that was learned at guild last fall.

This is a just in case, baby quilt LaVee made. The daisys have yellow and she has a really great (I think it is pink lemonade line) yellow for the back.

Jeri made this quilt out of a new line she has in her store. I can't remember what line she said it was. (I will check and get back on this one) Great quilt but she said there was lots of left over fabric with this pattern so she has been making these with the extra.

This is a tree ornament Shannon made for her youngest this year. I think she made ornaments for each family member.

This is a quilt Becky is quilting from a lady that recently passed away. I think she was in her late 90's.

Loretta brought a plate of still warm cookies for a treat.

It feels so good to be back and sewing again. Christmas was really lovely but there is something to be said for routine.

I usually only watch television on Tuesday nights, NCIS and NCIS Los Angeles, during those shows I saw a commercial. I have no idea who's commercial it is but the fellow was making a resolution to "eat more juicy steak" this year. Now that is a resolution I can really get behind. As a daughter of third generation cattlemen I think I will make that resolution to, at least once a month, have a nice juicy steak.

Now to my word and how it found me.

On Sunday, I was singing a song to the youngest children at our church. Luckily they don't care that I can't carry a tune in a basket. There is a line in the song, that when I was a child, said "teach me all that I must know, to live with him someday." The song has been changed to " teach me all that I must do to live with him..." the word did find me. My word for this year is
Do

As in do the things that will make me healthier, as in do some projects not just start them. Do things with and for family and friends to keep connections open. Do the things that will open my mind and heart to spiritual things. I already know, this is my year to do .

I will let you know how my journey is going. If you are choosing one little word let me know how you are doing.

I know it is a tradition and I have done it for more years than I will admit to but I am not doing it this year. Have I ever kept a resolution? Probably, but I don't remember it.

This year I am going to go with one little word.

I am not giving up on making changes and trying to do better but this year I am going to choose one word. One word to take me where I want to go. In the scrapbook world there is a big push to choose one little word and make it one you can be mindful of all year long. One little word How will I use my word? I don't know for sure yet but I am putting together a gratitude journal for the year so I may make it part of that. Here are the words I am trying to choose from: What do you think?

Look at Angela's Thanksgiving quilt. What a fun quilt. The turkeys have loose legs and there are other 3D elements. I have not seen this pattern before. She said she bought the kit with the pattern but she had enough in scraps to cut out a second smaller quilt. Good deal.

Jerilu is so awesome. Remember last week she was cutting out the squares for this quilt. It is done. This quilt is an advent calendar. She said it was so much fun to do. It is certainly fun to look at.

Helen made this cute hat for a grandbaby. She is such a good sport she even modeled it.

Loretta made this almost all from scralps. It was a class at Quilt Walk. She used her embroiderer machine for the flowers.

She also made these baby boots and shoes.

Mary Lou put this quilt together from blocks Helen gave her for her birthday.

Karen has made aprons for all the girls in her family.

All the little girls in LaVees family are getting these sooo cute P.J.s. The blue is really pretty, it is getting harder and harder to find trico for these projects anymore.

She also crocheted this bracelet.

And sewed on the binding for this quilt. Busy girl.

Helen is making this stocking cap for a grandbaby.

These are so cute they are part of a set of six that Donna is doing.

Becky is making a black and orange quilt for a friend who is a big fan of Oregon State. (I hope I got the right Oregon College with the black and orange)

Jerilu cut out fabric for this advent quilt. The pattern looks hard but she said it is fairly easy. It almost made me want to try it. Since I have the fatquarter shoppe christmas BOM from last year only barely started, I am going to hold myself back.

Marylou is doing another tube quilt. I really like how fresh blue and yellow are together.

this is so cute but sorry I can't remember what craft she said this is. She can do almost anything.

The place was jam packed. It had been moved to a smaller venue (the social hall) this year as the courthouse staff have taken up residence in the fair building while the courthouse is recieving its makeover.

I didn't take many pictures but I did get a shot of Holly's booth it was very cute. She even hung the quilt I made one of her girls for a back drop.

She had the most awesome books for sale and kits to make them yourself.

This train is all hand crocheted and so are the ornaments on the tree. Elsie Hatch made these. This train was already sold but they let me take the picture anyway.

It was fun but I was glad to get home.

Jerilu brought these pillows she has been making to sew night. Look at the fabric in these, especially the red. I asked how she cut the letters and she said she free hands them. I was trying to figure out how I could cut them with the cricut, me free handing with sissors would not be good.

Shannon is making a tee shirt quilt. Aren't these great tee shirts. I can't wait to see this one done.

Love the In and Out Burger front and the red ones.

Most of us were just glad to get back to sew night and had hand work so we could visit.

Actually I love this boot pattern but get a look at some of the prints I used in the boots. Oh my! They must have all been in my, at the time, very meager stash. These blocks are from at least 10 years ago. Yep, I ran across them when I was playing with my fabric the other day.

I still have a yard or so of this yellow and green.

I will confess to being the worst procrastinator. I made 19 blocks. One more block and the quilt would be ready to go. At this point I am going to rethink it, and use 16 blocks. I thought at one time I might do the broomstick cowboy poem on the 20th block but the boys have grown and times has changed.

Do you have blocks that you look at and think, oh my, what was I thinking?

I have not seen it before. Well except that I bouught it and it is in my stash. I love blue and white and it has such a vintage feel to it.

I love how they wrapped it up using the lights on one side and the darks on the other. I couldn't bring myself to open it because it looks so good.

I also found these awesome bali pops, I probably should have gotten two the same color but it was too much fun to buy pink lemonade and cotton candy. Now what am I going to do with these. I am a newby to batiks.

Ruby fabric is the new bliss. What am I going to do with this fabric? It is almost to good to cut into. I will have to wait until the right project comes along. Do you think it will speak to me "use the Ruby."

And a fat quarter bundle of Sew Cherry. What a great line. So far I have not ever used any fat quarter bundles. I have always used yardage and guess I will just keep these for a while.

Just think of the possibilities.

Look at the beautiful layer cake

Ok I took my new project to sew night on Wednesday, took it out of the package and one of the layer cakes I needed was not there. Ok, where the devil did I put it. I spent the night sorting the fabric I did have and visiting. Sometimes I forget how soothing it is to play with fabric.

This layer cake is called Spring Magic by Moda and I know it is from a couple of years ago but it is soooo pretty. Every piece is great. (Sorry not sure why one side of the photo is dark. )

Thursday I started out looking for the spring magic but couldn't quit when I found it.

I just enjoyed the afternoon browsing though my fabric closet. I am going to show you my favorite finds of the day later, but that yard of green fabric you can see in the center of the picture was in a bin and I had bought it at quilt walk a couple of years ago because it was such a great piece. It is Spring Magic! Perfect for binding this new quilt. Great find in my stash.

If you can't tell from the picture I am finally going to start my Snibbles quilt plan C. I have loved this since I first saw it but it had to take a back seat to other projects.

Look at this great clear bin Jerilu found. The new project fits it perfectly. I could use more of these.

Sew Night-----and sirens

I finally made it to sew night. It is so nice to go get something done, visit and sew. MaryLou won this quilt at our Hospital foundation dinner last week. What a lucky girl.

She made this one from a kit. I really like the medallion and the fabric.

Last month at guild meeting they taught how to make this block. This is MaryLous.

Claudia was trimming hers up and got it laid out. I think she said this was her third one with this block. I really like it. The blocks were 16 1/2 inches.

Helen has been making these for her grandchildren each year for Christmas. She said her oldest grand will have forty of them this year. She is starting on the greats to.

LaVee made this adorable baby quilt to have on hand. I remember those little pull toy dogs.

Here is Becky's sampler from guild. She said she felt it needed something so look what she did to the corner.

I think it really adds to the character of the quilt.

Now for the sirens. We have a fairly quiet little town and while we were setting there, mostly visiting, we could hear the sirens start to wail it go closer and closer and we were thinking what the devil is going on. It finally dawned on us that today was our state cross country meet. Our Girls won state and around here any state title deserves a fire truck escort. They did the same thing for our baseball team a few weeks ago and for our debate team last spring.

Remember this quilt? The quilt has another side to it.

Bonnie showed us this quilt as an "I spy" then showed us this side that really is striking.

These are pretty awesome novelty prints for the "I Spy" but I think the best part of the this is the bubble quilting.

Bonnie had more to show us. She made this quilt from leaders and enders. I really like the red and white.

wool applique squares to be used on a "bucket" these are 3 D in some parts. Very unique.

I think the little bird is my favorite.

She talked about half square triangles and fast easy ways to make them. I really like all these quilts made with them.

Quilt guild night

guild was tonight. Bonnie Miles was our guest and she always teaches us something new, a better way to do something, and has lots of beautiful quilt projects. She also let us know that the Winter Quilt Retreat at Ruby's will be open for registration on the 13th.

She showed us some techniques for paperpiecing some projects. These umbrella girls are so something that need to go on my list.

Love this pattern.

Here she showed us a new block from a four patch. This is going to be fun to make and will work with different sizes.

Holly (she makes the most amazing books) has hooked me on making mini albums. These will be wedding shower gifts. I am not sure what to put on the front. I am thinking memories are not appropriate. What would you suggest? I will be adding some of the engagement photos to these and leaving the rest for them to fill in.

I will show you the insides without photos as I would not want to share someones photos without their permission.

I am not always so sure of my paper choices but I have the same problem with fabric choices for my quilts.

Bountiful Harvest

I picked up my bountiful basket this morning and it was full of goodies. there were even some apple pears in it. I have never seen those before but can't wait to try them. I also got some peaches from up north that were the best I have had in, I don't know how long. I have been just slicing and eating one or more a day.

The apples have been good, but I always expect them to be. Oh and speaking of slicing and eating, Kelly gave me a box of tomatoes and between a batch of salsa made by Holly and just plain eating them they are almost gone. We have had a good hard frost here, so I think that is the end of our harvest. I still have some carrots in the ground but that is it.

I can't say I am looking forward to winter we had some snow on Tuesday. It didn't stick but it was definitely a flurry.

I hope you are all enjoying the harvest and fall season.

Do you remember when I showed you the new BOM we were doing in guild. We were doing black and white and then each month we pick a crayon out of the jar and that is our accent color for the block. I though I would show you some of the blocks.

I hated the way those turned out so I have just been trying to figure something else out. I have ordered a card reader for the computer as all other means of getting the pictures on here have failed.

Posting without a picture seemed so boring, so I borrowed one from the Pioneer Womans site. Today for lunch I made Chicken Fried Steak and used her recipe. I have made this meal many times but, hadn't in a long time. When I had 3 growing boys this was the type of meal we had often. I saw this recipe on her site and had to fix it. I did use a mix for the gravy and won't do that again it was very peppery and gravy from a roux just tastes like the real deal. My dad loved this kind of food and it made me think of him today when we sat down to eat.

Since school started I have been working on a few mini albums and will try to post those soon. Quilt guild is Wednesday night so I hope my card reader gets her soon.

Laurens quilt is finished

You may know how I stuggle with binding, but I got this one done and it is on it's way to college.

Louise has been working on this Schnibbles pattern now all the grandkids a speaking this quilt when it is done. It really turned out cute. I am loving the piano key border. Sorry the pictures are not better, I am still using the phone camera since I can't get the card in this computer.

We mostly sat around and visited. I worked on binding Laurens quilt. Remember the one made out of sugar and spice fabric. I will post it when the binding is finished.

LaVee, Claudia and Helen were crocheting hats.

Judy brought the fabric for advice on her next quilt.

Claudia brought these awesome ribbon embroidered pillow cases that Sheri had done.

Helen and Claudia brought a great pattern they found at Lazy May that would be so fun for a wedding gift.

Other than that we sat and talked about sewing and many things. We agreed that it had refreshed us to be there.

No it should not have taken this long to get it done but well there were lots of things going on. I decorated this magnet board for my youngest to take to college. It seems like it took along time to put together. But is is now gone to school and so is she. How did that happen. Just yesterday she was tripping up the aisle from preschool graduation and now college. Time seems to play tricks on us all.

This doesn't look anything like our original plan for it. It was supposed to have red and white flowers and red and white rick rack. I kind of like it though. It was really fun to make. Lauren painted the board a bright turquoise and decided to tone it down with a little white. I made flowers from some tutorials on the web and glued them to the board. The small flowers are attached to magnets.

Jerilu is making progress on her Farmers Wife blocks. These are the blocks where she is using some of the fabric given to her by Mrs. Lynn.

Nobody actually brought their machines but we had some show and tell, we visited and Claudia showed us how to cut out a new quilt of wonky trees. She got hers all cut out while we sat and visited with her. It is good to get back into the swing of sew night. I've really missed it. Panguitch in the summer can be hectic.

Oh my, I think this quilt is so cute. Jeri brought it to work on the binding.

Here is Lauren's college quilt quilted. It still needs binding but time seemed to run out today.

LaVee's sister in law made this bag out of woven placemats. That inside fabric is fabulous.

This is the quilt you have seen before. It's quilted and ready for binding. Lauren and I put this together. She should be warm at school.

Jeri's granddaughter who is twelve put this quilt together. She did a great job. Marylou quilted it for her and it is so cute. I love the owls in the fabric. Fabric is from adorn it.

These hats Helen makes are so cute for big and little girls.

the bad news is I have yet to find my 4 GB card for the camera. Dang they are small.
I don't have a sewing room and with all the comings and goings of people the last few weeks the sewing machine has been in hibernation. I do, however, have a friend who comes for the summer. We usually get together for a few days and make cards. This year since she missed quilt walk and was unable to take Holly's mini album class, she wanted to make a mini. here is what I made.

I had been looking at some mini albums on you tube and it made me want to try some new things.

You can't see it very well but the flower on the left is one of the fabric flowers you hold over a flame to melt into curves.

I got this idea from Laura at following the Paper trail .

this envelope holds 4 tags or space for 8 pictures or pictures and journaling. I really like this paper. It was some I had had for years and I had thought about purging it but I am glad I didn't.

Sweet Ruby had some way cute quilts and even though they had a small booth it was stuffed with great quilts. Maybe it was a regular sized booth but was so stuffed it looked smaller. Anyway here you go.

I think this is so cute. the quilting was awesome too.

Speaking of textures the solid pieces you can see here are made with the new ruffly fabric. What little one wouldn't want to run their hands over this again and again. It is the kind of thing that would put you right to sleep.

Love this one made out of the sugar and spice fabric.

I think this booth was put together by three sisters.

this booth was so cute and I am drawing a blank on the name.

I have shown this before as it was done by one of the teachers at QW but to see it in person was incredible.

I don't remember the name of this booth either but I know the shop is in Hurricane and the lady was so nice. See the quilt on the right. It is for sure going on my list. I can't believe I didn't get a better picture of it. The center is a panel but the border just makes the whole thing. It is snowballs in different sizes.

Thanks to our troops who through the years have given so much for our country. How do you repay that?
I have to tell you I got a new phone with a great camera on it, I think. Over the weekend we attended the Stadium of Fire in Provo, Utah. It was awesome but I thought why take the camera when I can take the pictures with my phone. Sure enough I got some ok pictures, I emailed them to myself from the phone and they never showed up. I have no idea what I am doing wrong but I am sure it is simple. Just not to me.
So just to let you know, no pictures today but my granddaughter did an awesome job as one of the Stadium of Fire Dancers. My girls have been doing this for about 8 years now and it is lots of hard work but worth it for the preformance.

I always love the flyover. Planes from Hill Airforce base do a flyby each year. It is one of my favorite parts. When my oldest two were growning up we lived in an area where jets from 3 different bases would fly over. We loved seeing them.

I got a little teary at the presentation of the colors. My dad and his generation were vetrans of WWII. We were raised with patriotism. I am not sure that we will see that level of patriotism in this country again. However, at SOF there were 50,000 people who were showing patriotism like you seldom see any more.
And BTW Brad Paisley put on a great show

She said she found this pattern in a McCalls magazine.

Look at those little squares. love it.

Jeri brought this baby quilt to bind. She said she started it a long time ago but then there were only boy babies coming into the familly.

Wait until you see this right side up. It is stunning. Right now she is somewhat frustrated and is doing some unpicking.

It seems like by the time we leave things just don't fit in the case very well.

Tomorrow is the balloon festival so we will be up early to see the balloons take off. Our mountain air is perfect for the balloons. Tomorrow night is the glow down main street. Each year it gets bigger and bigger. It is so fun to walk down the street and see people you haven't seen in years.

The Singing Quilter--What a great trunk show

I put this on top because it is my favorite. I love how she shadowed each block.

She sang a song about a crazy quilt and added each element of the song in this little quilt.

She said she started some hexies and could not stop. I think she said these were 1/4 inch.

I actually heard her say this was pretty easy. I know no one believed it.

this is Lillian's Meet me at the Crossroads quilt from a class she took last year at the festival.

Love the look of this.

This is Lana's farmers wife quilt. so many small squares.

I believe this is an antique crazy quilt.

This beautiful quilt won the only award for a quilt we have at the festival. It won the people's choice award.

Don't you just love the blocks and colors on this quilt?

This is one I want to do but not sure about those small squares.

Placemats and Classes

One of our service projects this year is making place mats for our "meals on wheels" program. There were so many cute ones I wanted you to see them all hanging on the walls in the auditorium.

Claudia, Nan, Marylou and Linda at the registration table. It looks like the fun starts the minute you get here. For me the hardest part is getting all my "necessary" stuff out of the car and into the building.

This quilt will be raffled off at the balloon festival the end of June.

Over Thursday and Friday this quilt was put together for the Chemo Quilt Sew In. Pretty awesome isn't it?

This quilt was made with 11/2inch squares. I know the quilter could not see the pattern close up but from the back you can see the awesome details that were added. The man who did this said it was his second quilt.

Yay! I am back.....Quilt Walk here I come!

I got back in town about seven and ran down to see what was going on at the festival. The quilt show was over for the night but there were a couple of classes going on.

This way cute quilt holds the baskets and tickets with the blocks for the block exchange. Actually it is winner take all, well sort of.

Here are this years T Shirts for sale.

Jill is teaching her frog class tonight.

The ladies looked like they were having a great time.

I heard that they had some awesome quilts started.

Oh my gosh, this is the cutest quilt. I have to say I hardly noticed it from the class schedule. When I walked in the room tonight I was wishing I was in the class. they were laying out the pieces and glueing them down. I can't wait to see them done. Here is the demo and this is the completed one.

I just slipped into Emily's room and took a quick shot of this as they were busy working away in there. I love the colors in this Maverick Star.

One of the houses on the home tour was Claudias. We quickly ran over there to see it before Leon got the quilts taken down. they had showcased the quilts in such a unique way. Be sure to head on over to her blog in the next few days to see them. Give her a few days though because she is swamped with festival stuff. Leon did a great job showing us around.

It's the week before our Quilt Walk Festival...the town is all decked out with quilts on every corner of Main and Center

Our statue looks so good in his new park. Hundreds of quilts are being readied for display. Women all over the southwest are cutting fabric, cleaning their machines and filling bobbins in anticipation. We are going to be having a sew in, an open area for sewing, trunk shows every day, fifty or more classes and (a little self pitty here)

I won't be there. How did that happen I have a blog all about the quilt walk, we talk about the quilt walk from one year to the next? About a month ago I got notice that a conference I need to attend will only be held in Utah the very same week as the Festival. I am hoping to finish in time to get back to a Saturday class. The conference is 7 hours away however, I am hopeful. I have been trying to decide on a class for Saturday. I think that I am going to shoot for the hunters star. Now to find fabric in the stash. Any feed back or pictures of hunter stars you have made would be appreciated. Above is the picture Cheryl posted for the class.

The ones I have seen have been two contrasting colors. like this. Help me decide.

I think Applique is charming.

Rubyslipperz is doing an interview with Amy on her blog today. You might want to take a look.

These turtles are one of my very favorite quilts of the show.

Two of the booths that I really enjoyed were mostly applique. This first one was new to me and soooo cute. These are from Amy Bradley Designs again too cute.

The Second booth was by a designer I have talked about before, do you remember the story of the worry dolls? Well I was so excited when I saw Kellie's Don't Look Now Booth there were the worry dolls and so much more. The booth was fantastic and full of beautiful appliqued quilts and wall hangings and oh my.

the vehicles on this bed quilt were awesome.

Here are the worry dolls. l loved every one of them. Those pillows would be so cute to personalize. I wonder how long a doll would take to do. I am afraid that by the time I got one done the little girl would have grown up and gone.

Her Christmas trees are awesome. The wreath is beautiful. Someone said it didn't look much like a Christmas wreath but I think it does if you live in Australia.

Thouroughly modern quilts

I have pictures of a large number of quilts that are pretty modern. I don't usually do modern but these really caught my eye. These quilts are from the school house day.

I have more modern quilts from the show room. I will add a few of these and make another post of them because I took quite a few pictures of what I thought was modern. Not wonky but more than traditional.

this quilt is from Anaka's Treasures and is in her new book I think.

I took this picture because I bought some bali pops at sample spree and thought this would be a fun quilt to use them in. The cream one with brights. I do like the darker one to. this was on the end of the Hoffman booth.

Love this zig zag quilt. It is on my list. I believe this is in the Lencien booth.

This was at school house. The class talked about doing borders as blocks rather than strips. The quilts were really striking.

The black on this quilt is done in blocks. I loved this quilt.

for Chemo Quilts. One of our teachers at quilt walk is Emily Bailey. I am quoting Emily's blog " I've started having Happy Chemo Sew ins to make quilts for Happy Chemo, an organization that gives gifts to cancer patients.

To help contribute to this charity you can come to a "Sew In." We will have a room at the Quilt Walk Festival where you can come and sew on a quilt, contribute fabric, quilt on a quilt or anything you think would be helpful.

Quilts of Valor, I saw at market

I was pretty excited to score some "Sew Cherry" fabric at sample spree at market. Lori Holt of Bee in my bonnet designed the fabric and the quilts in these next pictures. Look at this awesome table topper. I think my favorites in the line are the larger than life gingham.

Lori is famous for aprons and applique. She had made lots of real aprons but I was having some trouble with batteries and missed the aprons. If you want to see all the aprons Rae Ann at Cutie Pinwheel has a post on them up today. Visit her site to see the great fabric in them.

This pattern is called dishes I think. Too cute.

This might be my favorite pattern. How fun.

this is the last one I have a picture of. It is called cake walk. Do any of you remember participating in a cake walk? I do.

Nancy had a class at school house showing her darling patterns for babies. She had an adorable lion quilt .

the last thing I want to show you tonight, are the pineapple quilts taught by Karin Hellaby. Besides getting to listen to her musical english accent I was so excited to see her method to make "Sew Simple Pineapples" I ordered her book tonight.

I can't imagine how she was able to think up this method but it is facinating. Don't you love the colors in this next quilt?

Tea Cakes, celebrations, curves, sugar and spice

I was so enthralled with school house at market and want to share more of the great quilts and ideas. I took over 400 pictures so have patience with me.

This line of fabric is Tea cakes by Verna Mosquera for WFI lifestyle fabrics. These first two quilts are all about tea time cakes and candy. I thought they were so cute and I love the colors of the fabrics.

Here are the fabrics in a more traditional quilt. I love it.

Another Class I went to was called "It's time to make curves" After seeing these georgeous quilts I had to have the curved template that she designed.

I was able to find it in her booth on Friday but she was out of the first book. I wanted it before I start on these.

I think this next quilt is called Moon in the window. It also uses two sizes of the template.

How fun it this one?

So now I am on the hunt for the Crazy Curves original book.

Remember the fabric Lauren picked out for her quilt? I was able to attend the presentation of it by It's designer Amanda of the Quilted Fish for Riley Blake. It was so much fun.

Do you love this covered button bracelet. Amanda is so creative.

What a cute quilt. Amanda themed her presentation on the Mad Hatter.

I don't know if you can see it on this but the green sashing is gathered ruffles. I think the fabric is so cute.

I did not know that Quilt Soup had their own fabric line. I am really liking the way it looks in a quilt. Their booth was bright and cheerful.

I am wanting to see more of this magazine after seeing this display. I believe all these quilts have been featured in American Patchwork Quilting.

I am usually not a halloween quilt person but I thought this one was probably the cutest wall hanging ever. It and the turtle quilt are by Brandywine Design

Me and My Sister booth was so much fun. They even had hopscotch to really play in a quilt. What fun for a little girls room. Take a look at the head and footboard of this bed it is crochet. How cool is that?

I guess you all know I love owls and I thought these were great. As I was looking at the owls, Jerilou said look at this and it is such fun.

I am back from market, it was awesome

This is what the floor looked up from up above and on one end.

I got home last night, crawled into bed and then had a four hour nap this afternoon. I am finally up to actually putting words on the computer. This will be short but sweet. Just a few pictures to help you imagine.

this is a quilt I coul look at for a long time there is so much interest in the fabric.

I love the 3D look of these. I don't think I have seen this done with separate colors inside the blocks before.

I love the way the colors come together in this. I have such a hard time with colors but I like this combo. Solids with texture ( or the look of texture) seemed to be everywhere.

I think I took all three of these pictures at the Whirligig Designs booth.

I do have lots more but I will never make it to work if I don't get some sleep. I hope it is not a joke after my four hour nap.

Murphy's Law of Sewing

Fusible interfacings always fuse to the iron.

If you need six matching buttons, you will find five in your button box.

The seam you meant to rip out is invariably the other one.

When you are in a hurry, the needle eye is always too small.

The fabric you forgot to pre-shrink will always shrink the most.

The pattern you wanted to make again will have one key piece missing.

If you drop something out of your sewing basket, it will be your box of pins with the cover off.

The iron never scorches the garment until its final pressing.

The steam iron only burps rusty water on light silk fabric.

The sewing machine light usually burns out on Sunday.

Pinking shears get dull just by looking at them.

Gathering threads always break in the middle.

Just when you really get a pace going and are cranking out, the phone will ring with an emergency.

When you rip out a mistake, you do the same mistake again.

The fabric that perfectly matches the quilt you're working on is the one that you used up two quilts ago.

There's always at least two pieces of that light fabric with the very vague print that has been sewn wrong side up.

I was putting some craft rooms on my pinterest site and remembered seeing this room of Pennys. I went looking for it and sure enough it is as beautiful and organized as I remember. I asked Penny if I could show it here and she said I could.

these are her words as she talked about her room. "I can see my porch/front door and front yard through my windows and I love that. The only thing I think I would change would be to have a 3rd chair. I usually have one guy perched on a counter and of course my teenage boys fight over who gets the 2nd chair and love when they can both beat their dad out of it. Right above the room is the catwalk to the boys' upstairs. Because of that, I can easily hear them when they are up there gaming and they tell me, "Mom, we love when you're home. We just love hearing you down there." It is a blessing to my heart in so many ways. The chairs are called JAMES CHAIR and I got them at Calico Corners the year we moved in. They were a bit of a splurge and I had to save up for them, but they are one of my favorite things. The table was actually a breakfast room table in another house and it is made of old barn pine that was restored. My crosses have come from all over and have meaning and my angels on the shelves are what the boys give me for occasions. It is truly a very happy spot in our home."

What a great way to spend your time creating.

Becky brought a way cute cowboy quilt tonight. She just has the binding to do.

Nan laid these out and got them sewn together.

Lavee made herself a skirt like she's been making for her granddaughters. It turned out great. I really like the fabrics she used.

With left over fabric she is making these boot blocks.

She also has a bunch of the boot blocks for a little boys quilt.

Donna brought her turning twenty and is working on one more border and the binding tonight.

Another placemat. Of course I have nothing to show because I spent the night visiting. Lana had a fun quilt but for some reason it didn't show up on my memory card. How does that happen?

the lady that made this, made it for her niece. I asked her if I could post it and she gave me permission. I love a quilt that totally reflects the person it was made for. It appears her niece is a very talented young lady.
