Quilt Walk is right around the corner--

I get butterflies it is so exciting.  Here is some info I received this morning about the Quilt Walk in case you didn't see it.

We are excited about this year's Quilt Walk Festival, and look forward to seeing you.

We have a couple of reminders and additional information we wanted to share with you.

1.  Just a reminder that we would like to put a "Quilt Walk" recipe book together.  We need all of our quilters to contribute to this, so we can publish the book for next year.  If you have a recipe or recipes you would like to share, don't forget to bring the recipe/recipes with you when you come to the Quilt Walk next week.

2. The "Chocolate Fest" which is held at 6 pm on Wednesday will be held in a new location.  The new location is 390 East, 100 South, in the High School, in the old Swimming Pool area - This is near where the Vendors and Quilt Show is always  held - There will be signs directing you to the new location.  Please come and join in this "Sub for Santa" sponsored event.

3.  We are going to have a "Meet and Great" session with the Teachers on Wednesday evening @ 5:30 - Come and meet your teacher and see examples of their classes - If there are openings in classes, you will have a chance to sign up for these classes.

4. Bernina Sewing Machine is once again offering Machine repair and scissor sharpening.  However the will only be available on Thursday (all day) and Friday morning.  So if you are planning to take advantage of this service, be aware of the times they will be available.

Also, I missed last Quilt Guild meeting but Sandy sent me some pictures to share with you.

Becky was a great mystery quilter.

Close up of the cutest applique boots

Becky states she likes fall colors best so must of her quilts are in that color way.

She made this quilt for her daughters anniversary, not in her comfort zone of colors.  I like it.

Back in her comfort zone.
Becky and her husband own the Cowboy Collectible shop in town so many of her quilts have western themes.
Becky said this is her favorite quilt of all time.

Laressa Baldwin from Beaver quilted this for her.  So cute.

I have a ton more pictures but as I have gotten further away from the retreat my memory is failing on these, so mostly eye candy.

Melissa Corry is visiting today to talk about the Quilt Walk.

Hello fellow Quilt Walk Friends!!! It's me, Melissa Corry from Happy Quilting ;)   Can I just tell you, I am so excited for this year's Quilt Walk!!! I always have such a wonderful time at Quilt Walk and meet so many wonderful new friends.  I have especially been looking forward to this Quilt Walk as I have some exciting news to share with it!!!!

You see, last year I was super busy working on a huge secret project, and it is coming out right before Quilt Walk!!!  I am so excited to share that I wrote a Book!!!!  My book is Irish Chain Quilts: Contemporary Twists on a Classic Design and I get to teach from it at Quilt Walk!!!  I am so excited!!!

The first class I will be teaching is End of the Rainbow and yup, it's my cover quilt ;)   The class will be Thursday morning from 8:30 - 11:30.  If I had to pick a favorite quilt in my book it would be this one.  And the reason it is so special to me is because it was made with scraps from almost every quilt I have made.  When I look at it I see my first ever quilt, my first tutorial quilt, my first pattern quilt, my first published quilt, ect. ect. ect. ;)  So for me, it also doubles as a memory quilt!!  This quilt is so much fun to put together and like I said, is a fabulous scrap buster!!!   So, ready to bust scraps and make memories . . . then this is the class for you.

The second class I will be teaching is Daisy Chain and it will be held Thursday Afternoon from 2:00 -5:00.  I am so excited to be teaching this class!!  I think applique tends to scare people away before they have given it a try, but take this class and you will see just how easy, fun, and totally addicting it is ;)  We will be doing raw edge applique and I will be teaching 2 methods for it ;)  So if you have shyed away from Applique in the past because you just weren't sure . . . this is the class for you.  You are going to love it!!!!

My final class is on Friday Morning from 8:30 - 11:30 am and it is called Back to Basics.  I had so much fun designing this quilt and was ecstatic when it came together and turned out even better than I had hoped.  It won 3rd place in the Modern Quilt Guild Challenge last year and has hung in 2 juried shows, and is coming back from hanging at Quilt Con right now ;)  But what I really love about this quilt is that it teaches all of the Basics ;)  You will learn fast methods for making Half Square Triangles and Flying Geese and then see those basics transform into this amazing geometric design.   I hope to see you in this class, we are going to learn so much and have a great time doing it!

I am always excited to teach classes.  I say over and over that it is one of my favorite parts of this whole quilting thing ;)  But this year, I am super, super, super excited for Saturday afternoon because I was asked to do The Saturday Trunk Show!!!!!!  Oh my goodness, oh my goodness!!!   This will be my first Trunk Show and I am so excited (and a tiny bit nervous ;)   I will be sharing all of the quilts from my new book, talking about the process of designing and making them, and sharing some other fun Irish Chain Quilts along with their tutorials ;)   I hope you will join me for what is sure to be a fun filled afternoon ;)

I am so looking forward to Quilt Walk!!!  I hope to see you all there ;)

Melissa

Hope you enjoyed this look at the Quilt Walk and Melissa's wonderful news.
